What is the Subaru Love Promise?

Subaru and our retailers believe in making the world a better place and the Subaru Love Promise is our vision of respecting all people. This is our commitment to show love and respect to our customers and to work to make a positive impact in the world.

The Subaru Love Promise Community Commitment

We believe in being a positive force in something bigger. And it all starts right here in our community. Not just by our donations, but by our actions.

That's why we stay true to our Love Promise Community Commitment by partnering with a wide variety of community nonprofits and charities.

Every year, we join hands with our owners in the "Share the Love" event, giving back to our community-a community that's given so much to us.

So, every day, we strive to ensure our love is felt not just by our customers, but by all in our community. We do this because we feel it is the right thing to do.

We are proud to participate in the Love Promise Community Commitment. We're grateful, not only to be a part of our community, but to serve and support the causes and passions that are closest to our hearts, right here in our neighborhood.

All of the organizations we support have one thing in common: the unwavering dedication to improve the world and the lives of its people.

Loving the environment means more than loving the great outdoors. It means working to preserve it.

Over a decade ago, Subaru became the first U.S. auto manufacturer to become zero-landfill, and now, in collaboration with the National Park Service and the National Parks Conservation Association, Subaru is leveraging that same environmental expertise to help the National Parks reach zero-landfill too.

Love Promise Stories from Subaru El Cajon

Subaru and Subaru El Cajon believe in making a positive impact on the communities in which we live and work. We uphold that belief through our Love Promise Community Commitment. Every month, we select inspiring stories from customers and partners from around our area who strive to support our collective commitment and feature them here

Subaru Loves to Care - LLS!  –  Kathelne S

We were gathered in Carley’s garden, waiting for our special guest to arrive. It’s a magical location, designed to be a place where cancer isn’t – oversized flowers, trees you can climb in and around and bright colors everywhere…Suddenly, there she was – sporting a shirt with a unicorn – her favorite animal in the whole world. Zainab’s mom helped her say hello to Beau Watling and Clarissa Gomez from Subaru El Cajon. “Today’s our last treatment!” said Naureen, Zainab’s mom. “Do you know, the very first thing we received when we arrived at Rady Children’s Hospital? A Subaru blanket. Seems appropriate to get a new one on our very last day!” Naureen shared how the blanket had really helped lend comfort to not only Zainab, but the whole family during this challenging time. Thank you Subaru of El Cajon, you really do Love to Care!

El Cajon Subaru Grants Wishes for Kids!  –  Christine R

Subaru El Cajon partnered with Make-A-Wish® San Diego during their annual holiday "Share the Love" event and raised over $15,000 toward granting wishes for children with critical illnesses in our community! In addition to raising funds to help grant every wish without delay, Subaru El Cajon also hosted a toy drive to help supply the organization with toys that are provided to kids during their wish experience. Make-A-Wish San Diego creates life-changing wishes for children with life-threatening medical conditions in San Diego and Imperial Counties and the goal is simple: to come into a child’s life during a difficult time and provide hope, joy, and a much-needed break from the daily challenges they are forced to face. A wish can be an integral part of a child's treatment journey. Research shows children who have wishes granted build the physical and emotional strength they need to fight a critical illness. Helping make a wish come true is more powerful than ever … because when a child sees the impossible become possible, they often become energized to fight harder. No eligible child is ever turned away, and a family’s financial status, race, or religion has no bearing on whether or not a child will receive a wish. Since its inception in 1983, the San Diego Make-A-Wish chapter has granted more than 4,300 wishes to local children thanks to generous partners in the community like Subaru El Cajon, we can’t thank you enough!

Subaru and LLS Love to Care  –  Heather J

For the second consecutive year, El Cajon Subaru partnered with LLS to bring warmth and love to pediatric patients facing a cancer diagnosis. On Tuesday, July 3rd, 2018, Clarissa Gomez and General Manager, Beau Watling delivered 80 blankets to Rady Children’s Hospital. Only being on the job just a couple weeks, Beau made sure to be present himself for the delivery, a true testament to his commitment to the community! The hospital was overjoyed to receive the delivery and shared it will be used in the Peckham Center for Blood Disorders, where pediatric patients facing a blood cancer diagnosis are constantly coming in and out for treatment. The craft kids will be a welcomed distraction for the hours they must spend inside the hospital as they battle cancer. Thank you El Cajon Subaru!

Flying Hill Elementary School  –  Travis L

The Teachers and students here at Flying Hills would like to thank Subaru of El Cajon for the generous donations of much need supplies at the beginning of the school year. The original plan was to sponsor one class, but they brought enough to share with the three Kindergarten classes and a TK class which is around 100 students. Each teacher was presented with a gift basket filled with pencils, crayons, glue sticks, folders, rulers, wipes, and much more. They also brought custom Subaru backpacks and lunch boxes which the students really love. Kindergarten really appreciates and would like to thank the Subaru family for setting up Flying Hills students for a great and wonderful 2017-2018 school year.

Subaru Loves Charley!  –  Heather J

For the first time, El Cajon Subaru partnered with the San Diego Chapter of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society for the June Subaru Loves to Care Month. They were inspired by the amazing and energetic Charley McMahon, a 4 year old B-cell ALL patient. Charley visited with the full team at El Cajon Subaru to share what it’s like to have cancer. Despite weekly chemotherapy appointments, Charley is doing her best to be a typical pre-kindergartner with a strong love for chicken fingers, playing dress-up, riding bikes and watching the movie Frozen. Stephanie McMahon shared that although Charley’s appearance has changed (new hairdo) she knows her daughter’s self-confidence and strength will not be shaken; she frequently catches Charley admiring herself in the mirror saying “I am pretty.” On the day El Cajon Subaru delivered 80 blankets and 12 craft kits to Rady Children’s Hospital, they also arrived with a special message of hope for Charley, “Frozen” themed of course! It read, “To an amazing princess who inspires us all to never give up!” Charley received her special message and Subaru blanket while she was in clinic, receiving her monthly treatment.

Subaru and NWF Loves the Earth  –  Cynthia R

We had a such a great time planting the garden at our school! We can't thank Subaru enough for the garden elements!

Rady Children's Hospital  –  Lauren N

Subaru El Cajon has partnered with Rady Children's Hospital in the annual "Share the Love" Event. Rady Children's is a 551-bed pediatric care facility providing the largest source of comprehensive pediatric medical services in San Diego, Southern Riverside and Imperial counties. Rady Children’s is the only hospital in the San Diego area dedicated exclusively to pediatric healthcare and is the region’s only designated pediatric trauma center. In June, U.S. News & World Report ranked Rady Children’s among the best children’s hospitals in the nation in nine pediatric specialties. Rady Children’s is a non-profit organization that relies on donations to support its mission. With support like the “Share the Love Event”, our dedicated physicians, researchers, nurses and staff strive to deliver the best possible outcomes and a brighter future for all children. Every day, children grow healthy—and lives are saved—because of philanthropic support like the “Share the Love” Event. We would never turn a child away for inability to pay their medical expenses so Rady Children's really relies on community support to supplement these children's care. We believe that we have the opportunity, and the duty, to profoundly change and improve the quality of life and health for children locally, nationally and around the world. We can give children what they most deserve and what every parent hopes most for their child: a chance to grow and learn and live their lives to their fullest potential.

Subaru Loves Learning- "Stuff the Subaru" Event  –  Mary M

Barnes & Noble Grossmont Center was very excited to partner with Subaru El Cajon on their 2016 Subaru Loves Learning event! We joined forces to support the Cajon Valley Union School District in the exceptional education they provide to the children in our community. We chose to hold a book drive which resulted in an 800 book donation with books going towards each school in the district. In addition, Subaru El Cajon gave a generous donation to support the district's TEDx event! We held a community celebration where everyone helped to "Stuff the Subaru" with the donated books for the district. Cajon Valley Union School District staff read their favorite stories throughout the day in an ongoing storytime event to promote literacy. Superintendent David Miyashiro even led the group in singing from his chosen book (which was based on Pharrell Williams' song, "Happy")! Thanks to Subaru El Cajon for a great event and partnership. We look forward to working together to support our community again soon!

TRD Microchip Clinic w/ San Carlos Animal Hospital  –  Jessica B

The Rescued Dog, in partnership with our veterinarian friends from San Carlos Animal Hospital (SCAH), had a great event at El Cajon Subaru. The Rescued Dog completed two dog adoptions at the event, and connected with additional potential adopters. It looks like we will have at least one more adoption as a direct result of hosting an adoption event at the dealership. Additionally, representatives from SCAH were able to microchip 14 local dogs. This valuable tool keeps our pets safe and ensures they are identified properly and returned to their loving families in the event they go missing. Our time at El Cajon Subaru helped us fulfill 2 parts of our mission: adopting great dogs out to their forever families, and educating and assisting dog owners about great pet care. The Rescued Dog would like to thank El Cajon Subaru for graciously allowing us to host our event at your great facility. We look forward to many more joint events with Subaru!
