The 2018 Subaru Outback has something to please every SUV shopper. The Outback is spacious, gets excellent fuel economy, and is extremely comfortable. The 2018 Subaru Outback seats five passengers and comes in six trim levels: 2.5i, 2.5i Premium, 2.5i Limited, 2.5i Touring, 3.6R Limited and 3.6R Touring. All models get standard all-wheel drive. The 2.5i models are equipped with a 2.5-liter four-cylinder powerplant that develops 175 horsepower and 174 lb.-ft. of torque. The 3.6R models are powered by a 3.6-liter six-cylinder engine that puts out 256 hp and 247 lb.-ft. Transmission duties are handled by a continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT) with steering-wheel-mounted paddle shifters.

Here's a rundown of the Outback's trim levels:

Outback 2.5i

The base 2.5i comes with 17-inch alloy wheels, a height-adjustable driver seat, a tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel, a 60/40-split folding rear seat, hill holding assist, hill descent control, automatic headlights, roof rails, air-conditioning and a rearview camera. Tech gear that comes standard includes a four-speaker stereo system with a CD player, Bluetooth, the Starlink 6.5-inch touchscreen interface, Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, a USB port and an auxiliary audio jack.

Outback 2.5i Premium

The 2.5i Premium starts with the features listed above and adds heated exterior mirrors, rear privacy glass, a windshield wiper de-icer, dual-zone automatic climate control, foglights, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, heated front seats, a driver seat with eight-way power adjustment and two-way lumbar adjustment, an 8-inch touchscreen, a cargo cover, satellite radio, a six-speaker audio system, and three more USB ports. The optional Power Moonroof package adds a power moonroof and an auto-dimming rearview mirror. Buyers can also add an optional power liftgate.

Outback 2.5i Limited

The 2.5i Limited starts with the options found in the Premium and adds 18-inch wheels, rear cross-traffic alert, a blind-spot monitor, a front bumper underguard, leather upholstery, keyless ignition and entry, driver-seat memory functions, a four-way power passenger seat, heated rear seats, rear air vents and a Harman Kardon audio system with 12 speakers. Xenon headlights are available.

Outback 3.6R Limited

The 3.6R Limited is basically the same as the 2.5i Limited, but it comes with the xenon headlights and the six-cylinder engine.

Subaru's EyeSight system is available on the Premium and Limited trims. EyeSight adds a number of advanced safety features, including forward collision warning, adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, automatic emergency braking, auto high-beam headlights and more. EyeSight Premium includes rear cross-traffic alert and blind-spot monitoring. This package can add a navigation system.

Outback 2.5i Touring and 3.6R Touring

The 2.5i Touring and 3.6R Touring models come with the standard features and options from the Premium and Limited, plus the Driver Assist Technology package. Touring models have exclusive 18-inch wheels, premium leather upholstery, a heated steering wheel, wood grain interior trim, dark exterior trim and fixed low-profile roof rails without crossbars.
